Understanding the Issue

It can also be caused due to incorrect HDMI input being selected or the TV not being turned on correctly.

How to Fix Firestick Won’t Load Home Screen

Now that you know the reasons behind the issue, let’s take a look at the various ways you can follow to fix this issue. I have listed fixes in such a order that will help you to fix the issue quickly.

1. Fix Internet Connection

Restarting your Firestick can fix the home screen not loading issue. To Restart your Firestick, go to Settings > My Fire TV > Restart. Or you can also remove the plug and reconnect it to power source after 10 seconds.

3. Wait for the Update Installing in the Background

The other reason why you might not see the Home screen loading is probably that the device downloaded a software update and is now installing the update in the background. In such cases, you will not be seeing the home page loading, or it can take some time for the home page to appear once the update has been installed. So, always ensure and wait for the update to install and the home screen will load completely once the update is installed. If you are waiting for long time and still the home screen won’t load, you might want to try other fixes.

4. Update Your Firestick

Step 1: Grab the remote and navigate to the Settings icon. You will have to do this based on your memory of what the home page of your Firestick looks like. Step 2: If you get the Settings menu on your screen, select the My Fire TV option. Step 3: Now, select the option that says Check for Updates. Step 4: Provided your FireStick is connected to the internet, it will begin to search for and download any updates that might be available for your FireStick.

5. Check Remote Batteries

Another thing you need to check is your remote’s batteries, as if they are weak or dead, you might not be able to turn on the TV. To resolve this, replace the batteries and see if the issue fixes or not. If not, move on to the next solution.

6. Plug Firestick Properly

Since the Firestick requires an HDMI input port on your TV to be connected and used, a faulty port or loosely plugged Firestick device can simply not display anything on screen and hence fail to load the home page at all. So, make sure that the device is plugged in properly and that you have switched to the right input source on your TV.

7. Clear Cache Files On Your Firestick

Step 1: Grab the remote, press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons. Step 2: Keep the buttons pressed for about five to ten seconds. Step 3: The Firestick should restart itself. The device will display a black screen for a while. This is normal, as the device is being forced to restart.

8. Check your Firestick’s Power Cable

If that’s not the case, you might want to change the power source and plug it into another power outlet. It is best to avoid powering the Firestick via your TV’s USB ports.

9. Plug and Unplug the Device

Sometimes, the Firestick might be running into a temporary bug that might be causing the home page to not load properly. In such circumstances, it is best to unplug the Firestick from the TV and the power source and leave it for a while. After a good minute or two, you can power it back on and plug it back into your TV. This should normally help soft reset the Firestick and be good to go.

10. Try it on Another TV

Step 2: Now, you need to press and hold the back button along with the right navigation button. Step 3: Keep the buttons pressed for about 10 seconds. Once you select the Reset option, the factory reset should now begin.
