The parallel download feature is already part of Apple’s App Store, allowing three apps to be downloaded simultaneously. Now that this feature is live and rolling out to everyone, Android users can now also be at peace with this great feature. One thing to note about this is that the simultaneous downloads will only work if you are installing apps. Updating apps on Android smartphones right now is still done one by one. Also it only downloads maximum two apps at the same time. This new feature should be rolling out automatically to the Google Play Store. For the devices that we tested this feature on, we found it working fine on the Honor Play running Android 9, a Nokia 7 Plus running LineageOS 19, Redmi Note 10 Pro running Android 13 Pixel Experience, Pixel 6a running Android 14, Galaxy S21 FE running Android 14 and the Samsung S24 Ultra running on Android 14. Now, whether this feature is live on Android devices running Android 7 and 8, we are not sure. When you launch the Google Play Store and tap on install for two different apps, both apps will begin downloading parallel to your device. If you swipe down to pull the notifications panel, you should see two download progress bars for the app that you are downloading. If for some reason you haven’t got this feature on your Android device running Android 9 and above, it is recommended that you manually update (from third-party sites like APKMirror) the Google Play Store app. Usually, this app gets updated by itself but, if it hasn’t been updated automatically, you can follow these steps to update the Play Store app. Now that you can download and install two apps at the same time on your Android smartphones via the Google Play Store, we could soon expect Google to enable updating two or more apps at the same time in the coming months. Will it happen? Well, that is an answer that only Google knows.
