Samsung has promised to release seven major Android OS updates and security updates for new foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 ships with Android 14 based on One UI 6.1.1, which means, the phone will receive the Android 21 update based on One UI 13 in 2031. When it comes to providing timely software updates, Samsung has the best record among all Android OEMs, aside from Google. As a premium device in the foldable Galaxy Z series, Galaxy Z Flip 6 owners can expect to receive new Android OS updates within the same month as the Galaxy S24 series. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is expected to receive monthly security updates for the first four years. After this period, the frequency of security updates may gradually decrease. This marks a significant improvement over the previous software update policy for Galaxy Z series phones. The previous-generation model, the Flip 5, is eligible for four years of Android updates and five years of security updates.
What’s new on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 with One UI 6.1.1?
One UI 6.1.1 brings a flurry of useful Galaxy AI features to the foldable, including Sketch to Image, Portrait Studio, voice-recorded integration to Samsung Notes, and more. For photography, the phone gets support for ExpertRAW’s AstroPortrait feature, Instant Slo-Mo for HDR10+ videos, Live Effects, Portrait Studio, Motion Clipper, and more. The Flex Camera mode receives improvements including Auto Zoom and Flex Camcorder.
