Huawei is already rolling out a separate OS (non-Android) for Huawei phones in the form of Harmony OS, but it is limited to China only. For global models, Huawei will keep the EMUI update based on Android. While Harmony OS 2 will not be available for Global Huawei phones, Huawei is bringing some of its features to EMUI 12. EMUI 12 was officially released a few weeks back and along with the new feature, Huawei has also shared a list of devices eligible for EMUI 12. However, the OEM has not revealed which Android version EMUI 12 will run on. Nova 9 is the device that runs on EMUI 12 but is based on Android 11. So we can say that it will be based on Android 11 but we will wait for official confirmation.

According to the Huawei timeline, the EMUI 12 update is expected from the first half of 2022. It can start from any month in the first half of 2022.
