Xiaomi first released the Android 12 developer preview just after the Android 12 announcement at the Google I/O event. But early developer builds were based on AOSP builds. And now Xiaomi is releasing the Android 12 beta based on MIUI which will be almost similar to the one that will be released to the public. Xiaomi is no longer embedding any particular MIUI with any major Android update. We have already seen Android 11 based on MIUI 12 as well as MIUI 12.5. And now Android 12 will be based on MIUI 12.5 as well as MIUI 13 after its release. It means they can continue their release without any dependency on the other update. Earlier this quarter Xiaomi has already delayed the MIUI 13 and instead rolled out the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced.
Android 12 Supported Xiaomi Phones
Now that we are close to the Android 12 release for Xiaomi phones, we can also expect some of the devices that may get Android 12 starting this year. Xiaomi has released the Android 12 beta for Mi 11 series. So obviously Mi 11, Mi 11 Ultra, and Mi 11i will be the first to get Android 12 in the coming months. As you know, this is our expected list and Xiaomi hasn’t released any official list as of now. So there can be some differences in both lists, but we will update once it is available.
