Some eight months after officially rolling out One UI 2.0, Samsung has rolled out One UI 2.0 update to most of its Galaxy phones. And later Samsung also releases a small update as One UI 2.1 for some devices. In fact, the Galaxy S20 series is also getting the One UI 2.5 update. But parallelly Samsung has also initiated the One UI 3.0 beta program for the Galaxy S20 series. It means One UI will be available in no time after the Android 11 availability.
One UI 3.0 Rollout Timeline
A few months ago, Samsung announced the One UI 3.0 beta program for the Galaxy S20 series. Hopefully, this month or maybe next month Samsung will announce the beta program of One UI 3.0 for Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy S20 FE. For those who have followed Samsung’s update pattern in past years, any new OS usually starts to be rolled out in November or December. But the company has released its first beta in the month of September. Optimistically, the stable update will be available at the end of 2020 for the S20 lineup.
Samsung One UI 3.0 update eligible devices
Another point to take note of is which devices will get the Samsung One UI 3.0 update. Most of the devices from 2019 will definitely get this update. This will be the second major OS update for these devices. However, it’s sad that a device like the Note 9 from 2018 will not be getting the update. We don’t know of any plans from Samsung with regards to changing its software update policy. For those new to the topic, Samsung has in the past provided two OS upgrades to all of its devices; flagship or budget. That said, if your Samsung smartphone and tablet came pre-installed with Android 9 Pie (OneUI 1.0) you should expect another (maybe final) OS update to One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. This news coincides with Samsung’s announcement that they will offer 3 generations of OS updates. This was committed at the Unpacked event on 5 August 2020. Today, Samsung announced the official One UI 3.0 Roadmap and eligible phones list. Below is a list of devices that are most likely eligible for the Samsung One UI 3.0 update.
